Mouse Colony Management System

Rat Colony Management System developed for an Animal facility department part of a cellular biological research unit, Bangalore. The institute has many labs for different research areas. Every lab headed by a senior scientist who is a Person In charge (PI). Animal facility offer rooms with different conditions (“environment”) that will enable lab users to keep their cages with the subject (mouse/rat) for the study. The animals injected with different strain by the lab and kept at animal facility rooms for research study.

Business Challenge

The customer wanted to address production challenges which impact the production.

  •  An application to track individual animals, their ancestors, siblings and descendants, litters born and other animal statuses.
  •  Maintain up to date Animal inventories and other databases including breeding registry, vivarium operators, cryogenic DB.
  •  Its often cumbersome to maintain cage usage and generate invoices for the cage usages by various labs
  •  Automatic Email alerts to relevant stakeholders on animal statuses and other events
